Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 2026
Welcome
NeuroKindKids.com ("we," "us," or "our") creates personalized, AI-generated books where characters come to life as the hero of their own story while practicing real self-advocacy skills. Grown-ups co-author these stories with NeuroKindKids by creating a character, selecting a scenario, a challenge, and a self-advocacy skill to be featured in the story. Our books are built for all children, with neurodivergent children at the center, featuring inclusive representation of kids who use mobility aids, sensory tools, and AAC devices.
On NeuroKindKids, we call your character a "Kind Kid Hero" — it's the same thing, just our friendly name for it! For clarity, this Privacy Policy primarily uses the term "character."
We take the privacy and safety of your family's information seriously — especially when it comes to children. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to the practices described below.

Our platform is designed for adults to create personalized books for children. Account holders must be 18 years of age or older. Children may view and enjoy their books alongside a supervising adult, but should not create accounts or use the platform unsupervised.

How AI Generation Works and What Data Is Shared
Our platform uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized story text and illustrations. To create your books, certain information is sent to our AI service providers during the generation process:
Story Text Generation (Anthropic & Google Gemini)
To generate and polish your story, we send the following to Anthropic and Google Gemini's APIs:
- Your character's first name or nickname and pronouns
- The selected scenario, challenge, and self-advocacy skill
- Supporting character name and relationship (if applicable)
- Character prompt describing your starring character's appearance and tools used
- Character prompt describing your supporting character's appearance and tools used
Note on Data Training: Anthropic does not use API data to train their models. Data may be retained for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring purposes, after which it is deleted. Google does not use paid API data to train their models. Data may be retained for abuse monitoring purposes.
Illustration Generation (Google Gemini)
To generate your illustrations, we send the following to Google's Gemini API:
- A text description of the scene to illustrate
- Reference images (AI-generated character avatars, scene backgrounds)
- Character appearance details, including mobility aids and assistive devices
Note on Data Training: Google does not use paid API data to train their models. Data may be retained for abuse monitoring purposes.
Important Note About AI-Generated Content
All character images are AI-generated illustrations — we never collect, store, or transmit real photographs of children. The illustrations are stylized, cartoon-style representations created from text descriptions provided by the account holder.

We use the following third-party services to operate our platform. All connections to and from these services are accessed through secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS).
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |

Children's Privacy
We are committed to protecting children's privacy and complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
How We Handle Children's Information
Characters created on our platform may represent a real child or a fictional character. We treat all character data with the same level of privacy and security. When characters represent real children, the following protections apply:
- Adult Gatekeepers: We do not collect information directly from children. All information about children is provided by an adult who holds the account. Account holders must be 18 or older.
- Data Minimization: We collect only what is needed to create personalized books. We do not collect more information about a child than is necessary for this purpose.
- No Commercialization: We do not use children's information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than creating their personalized books.
- Private Ecosystem: Children's information is never made public. Characters, books, and personal details are only accessible to the account holder who created them.
Parental Rights
As a parent or legal guardian, you have the right to:
- Review the information you have provided about your child by accessing your account dashboard
- Request correction of any information you have provided by contacting us
- Request deletion of your child's information and all associated data (account, characters, books, images) by contacting us at hello@neurokindkids.com — we will process deletion requests within 30 days
- Withdraw consent for future collection of your child's information by deleting the character or closing your account
If you believe information about your child has been collected without proper parental consent, please contact us immediately at hello@neurokindkids.com and we will promptly investigate and delete any improperly collected information.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using the following measures:
- All data is stored in Supabase (United States region) with encrypted connections
- Authentication tokens are verified on every API request
- All API endpoints require authentication — unauthenticated requests are rejected
- File storage (avatars, book illustrations) uses private buckets with signed URLs that expire
- API keys for third-party services are stored securely on the server and never exposed to the browser
- All connections to and from our platform use HTTPS encryption
- Rate limiting is enforced on all API endpoints to prevent abuse
- User input is sanitized to prevent injection attacks
While we implement industry-standard security practices, no system is 100% secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to hello@neurokindkids.com.
Data Retention
- Account & Character Data: Account, character, and book data is retained for as long as your account is active and has not been deleted by you. If you cancel a paid subscription, your data is retained and your books are stored in your Book Vault — accessible again if you resubscribe. Free tier accounts retain access to their first book and saved characters indefinitely.
- Archived Kind Kid Heroes: When you archive a Kind Kid Hero, their character data and books are retained in full and remain associated with your account. Archived heroes and their books are not deleted — they are simply made inactive until you choose to restore them. You may delete an archived hero at any time from your account dashboard.
- AI Service Data: Story prompts and image generation requests sent to Anthropic and Google may be retained by those services for up to 30 days for safety monitoring before being deleted. We do not control their internal infrastructure retention — please refer to their respective privacy policies for details.
- Newsletter Data: Retained until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics Data: Collected and retained by Google Analytics according to Google's data retention policies.
- Account Deletion: When you request account deletion, we will delete all your data — including characters, books, illustrations, and account information — within 30 days, unless we are required by law to retain certain information.
